Cheryl Oswald, CMP, CMM, CEM has more than 15 years of events management experience at Kohl’s and, most recently, as Corporate Event Manager at CNH Industrial. She has been named 2022 Meeting Planner of the Year by Smart Meetings, 2018 40 under 40 by Connect Magazine, and 2018 Meeting Planner of the Year by Meeting Planners International, WI Chapter.

Cheryl currently serves on the Events Industry Council’s (EIC) APEX Commission, Meeting Professionals International’s (MPI) Anti-Human Trafficking Committee and served as an advisory member for ProColombia. She holds her CMP, CMM, CEM and an MBA from Concordia University.

Cheryl recently completed the CEM Learning Program and shared with IAEE how the IAEE Certification Journey fits into her commitment to ongoing education and advancing her career.

How has the CEM designation helped in your career?

It’s giving me more awareness of the process of exhibition management, letting others know I am a leader in exhibition management and adhering to industry stands.

Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?

It lets me maintain industry standards and what’s changing in the world of exhibition management.

What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?

Similar to my CMP, I wanted others to see the CEM designation and know that I am adhering to all industry standards and processes.

What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?

Do it! You won’t regret this decision and it’s not as intimidating as you think.
