How has the CEM designation helped in your career?
After more than 20 years of experience in event production, obtaining the certification brought me updated content in line with international standards.
Why is it important to maintain the CEM designation?
Joining the CEM family brought me countless relationship contacts and connected me with matters of extreme importance to my business, and I believe that all of this is a fundamental part to continue to prosper.
What made you want to obtain your CEM designation?
The business world is constantly evolving, and I believe that we must provide ourselves with the opportunity to be in constant learning to keep up with this evolution. Certifications represent learning.
What advice would you give to an aspiring individual who wants to apply for the CEM program?
They interpret certification as something very relevant to their personal and professional development. As much as they are experienced professionals, there is always a lot to learn. In addition, the level of people with whom you will relate is very high, and the exchange of knowledge is very relevant in any career stage.
How did you start your career in this industry?
An earring that I sucked in through the back door, as I was the commander of a Boeing 737-400 and I bought at the time, a travel agency that was later transformed into an events agency. At some point, I went to university again to study advertising and marketing and I ended up leaving aviation to dedicate myself exclusively to live marketing, transforming and focusing my professional life as an event manager. Aviation became a hobby.
How have you made a difference with your show or with working with a client by applying the knowledge you gained by obtaining your CEM designation?
I am personally convinced that I must be connected at all times, with the most modern and advanced in terms of management, technology and innovation around the world to keep my business alive and competitive. Studying, being connected and gaining knowledge is part of my career and life plan. CEM is part of my personal progress process, and it will certainly reflect on my day-to-day conduct at my agency and with my clients.
What was it that you did or implemented right after obtaining your CEM?
All!!! We conducted internal process reviews in our two businesses in order to follow international alignments and learning. We started to encourage people to follow these new standardized processes and we are sure that all of this is generating better levels of services for clients and key services providers.
What did you like most about the CEM Learning Program?
Meeting people with different cultures and relevant experiences in planning and producing events, in addition to connecting with the IAEE world.
Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?
As an aviator and responsible for flying a large Boeing for years, I stayed with the culture of safe and standardized planning and operations rooted in my day-to-day and that goes clearly to how to plan and produce ours and events … at the agency, my collaborators nicknamed me the “king of the checklist”!
