How did you start your career in this industry?

I had never thought about working in events prior to GES – I was a Public Relations major who thought I would end up at an Agency. Funny how plans change! I met GES at one of the Career Fairs my school was putting on and was immediately intrigued about the events industry and how I could grow within the GES Account Associate Program. I liked that I would be client facing, travel, and use my creative skillset to help our clients create engaging and exciting events. I was hooked from day one and here I am five years later.

How has IAEE shaped your career?

IAEE introduced me to industry friends, provided me with leadership opportunities locally and nationally, educational growth through webinars and through attending KLI – Krakoff Leadership Institute graduate – 2019. As someone who likes to be involved and busy, my membership with IAEE was a no-brainer and has impacted my career for the better.

What advice would you give to a new member?

Step out of your comfort zone and attend meetups. In this virtual environment, you can join a chapter no matter where you live and connect that way. Your local chapter is a great first step in getting involved so start there and don’t be afraid to just say, “yes!”

Fun fact about you – What is one thing most people don’t know about you?

I am a big reader. I set a goal to finish 30 books this year and I am on track to double that by the end of the year. If you want any recommendations reach out!

What do you like most about your chapter?
