I’m truly honored to serve, once again, as the chairperson for the Center for Exhibition Industry Research (CEIR). 2020 is now behind us, but it has taught me that research and data are more important than ever to reignite the exhibitions and events industry for 2021. We are happy to see that shows are successfully being held, as evidenced by Surf Expo and the three organizers who came together – Informa Markets, Clarion Events and Tarsus Group – to produce their shows at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando (my hometown!). Recently, CEIR held a webinar that predicted that Q3 and Q4 of this year could see the beginning of recovery for face-to-face U.S. trade shows. I am hopeful and excited that one day soon, we will once again see our colleagues and friends at live industry events.
